Behaviour Consults

DogBehaviour consultations are available for pets showing more complex problem behaviours. During the consultation a thorough history will be taken and assessment will be made of your pet. Correct understanding of the underlying emotions and motivation behind your pet’s behaviour will enable me to tailor the best treatment plan for you and your pet.

All treatment advice is based on the latest scientific knowledge and will be implemented using force free, positive techniques. There are often no ‘quick fixes’ for behaviour modification and this is why I offer you continuing support and a range of follow up sessions.

Behaviours, where a behaviour consultation will be required, include (but are not exclusive to): aggression, fear, anxiety/phobia, separation related problems, compulsive behaviour, destructive behaviour, hyperactivity, resource guarding, attention seeking, inappropriate toileting/marking.

How a Consultation Works…
Step 1: History

Once you’ve contacted me I will send you a history form for you to complete so I can gather further information about your pet’s lifestyle, previous experiences and the nature of the problem in greater detail. A trip to your vet may be required to rule out any underlying medical conditions that may be influencing your pets behaviour.

Step 2: Initial Assessment

I will visit you and your pet in your own home so I can observe and assess your pet. We will discuss the history you have provided in further detail and I will then provide you with an individualised treatment plan. I will also work through some practical solutions with you.

Step 3: Follow Up

Following our meeting I will provide you with a written report detailing what we have discussed and the treatment plan. I include a free follow up conversation via email or phone which will be discussed at the time of the consultation. Depending on the complexity of the problem follow up sessions may be necessary.
